Tailwind CSS

Background

Tailwind CSS is a configurable CSS framework that provides the building blocks for implementing custom designs, without implementing time-consuming overrides, all while staying in the IDE. Crafting styles using utility classes is straight forward since it provides more than enough sane defaults out-of-the-box.

The development build is extensive by design. Tailwind generates thousands of utility classes, most of which go unused. The size of the development build is more than 2MB which minifies to approximately 190KB minified.

Use the Tailwind purge option to tree-shake styles to remove unused classes for an optimized final build, significantly reducing the CSS file to an acceptable size.

According to Tailwind,

Tailwind CSS is responsive to its core - every Tailwind utility comes with responsive variants, making it extremely easy to build interfaces without resorting to custom CSS.
